Margrit BEESLEY - Potter
Margrit grew up in Switzerland, training as an Occupational Therapist. Upon her arrival in Canada, she continued in her profession working with physically disabled children.
Margrit retired in 1990 and then discovered the wonder of working with clay. She attended Sheridan College to study ceramics and opened her own studio. Margrit continutes to expand her knowledge by taking art classes in Haliburton, North Bay, The Thousand Islands and Victoria B.C.
Nature has always been the inspiration for her work and she is particularly drawn to movement and flow. While throwing a pot, the wheel is in motion and guides the hand to the desired form. Her pottery is decorated with bright colours and flower motifs. Ikebana is a fascinating art form for Margrit and she creates many containers and vases for this purpose. The ingredients in her glazes are lead free and food safe.
