Yves Ameline is a pure product of the Haliburton School of the Arts where he started studying in 1997 as a post-retirement challenge. His unique, award-winning interpretations of the Haliburton landscape and other subjects dear to his heart have been exhibited in many juried shows and in a variety of art venues, including the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg, Ontario. He has had three solo exhibitions in Toronto and Haliburton.
“My paintings are not depictions, but impressions. I have no wish to reproduce reality, merely to express my emotional reaction to it, focusing on abstract design and colour. I paint in the studio, relying mostly on memory because it is shaped by my own perceptions and retains only those elements of a scene that have made an impression on me.”
