BIRKETT, STEPHANIE

Stephanie studied mathematics and pursued related careers before a life event landed her in an outdoor watercolour workshop and returned her to fine arts.

She grew up outside Cooksville, ON – when there were still farms and woods. Currently living in Toronto, she has been visiting the Haliburton area for most of her life and has fond childhood memories of sneaking through the forest with siblings to the local sawmill (the operational) – almost always getting caught and chased away.
Growing in a family of amateur ornithologists and photographers has a big impact on her and passed down black and white bird photos have been a recent inspiration.

Right now Stephanie is using acrylics to explore mood and find drama in the things she loves.
