As with most painters, my interest in drawing and painting began in childhood, developing my skills with the help of Walter Foster How to Paint books. Though painting took a back seat to raising a family and a nursing career for a period of time, I continued to educate my artistic eye by carefully observing my surroundings. Many hours have been spent canoeing and cycling around Ontario with my camera poised to capture the beauty I discover and it is these photos that inspire most of my paintings. Over the past 11 years I have been committed to honing my skills as a painter and have studied with William Ziegler, Greg Sherwood, and Deeter Hastenteufel. My painting style has been strongly influenced by John Leonard at the Haliburton School of Fine Arts.
My works, mainly in acrylics, have been shown in many community shows in the Huron County area where I have resided for the past 25 years. I was a featured artist in the Left Side Gallery in Flesherton, Ontario in May 2006 and at the Goderich Coop Gallery in December, 2007.
I have been a regular participant at the Haliburton School of the Arts and have attended two advanced painting courses in 2008 and 2009. In the spring of 2009, my work was exhibited in connection with a fundraising initiative for the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation.
